The Hopeful Romantic (7-10 points)
You know that even though love can result in disappointment and a broken heart there is always hope. You anticipate the prospect of loving and be loved again. In the words of Martin “You go girl!”

On The Verge of Giving Up...But Not Quite There (4-6 points)
You want to believe in love and all the beauty it has to offer but heartbreak and the examples around you dictate otherwise. You try not to be a pessimist but sometimes you just can’t help it. Get it together of you’ll end up in the next category.

It’s a Wrap (0-3 points)
All the things that happened in your love life have left you rife with hopelessness. How can you believe in love when you’ve experienced all the pain & turmoil it can bring? You can’t, so you don’t. Please do the work necessary to reverse this way of thinking; it will only stop you from having the love you really want.

Random Thought: When Nature Calls...

So, I've noticed that a new pattern has emerged since I began my dating hiatus. For the first two weeks of the month I was absolutely fine with the idea of not dating & perhaps even being single for the duration of my life. It was a great feeling, replete with a sense of immense freedom. I felt so light. Fast forward to weeks 3 & 4 when my entire tune changed. Not only was I no longer satisfied with this no dating stuff but, I also couldn't stomach the thought of being a perpetual Bachelorette. What brought about this switch you may ask? Simply put...hormones. At this time of the month my body is preparing to create and nurture life. Therefore, I am fertile and as Austin Powers would put it, Randy baby ;-)

Did God know what he was doing or did God know what he was doing??? If not for these fluctuations in my hormones I would probably be over men completely. But obviously the Creator has another plan in store for me.

*Sigh* My Loves, Your Man is Closer Than You Think & Mines Better Be As Well :-)

Heartbreak Hotel...

In the past, heartbreak was the formula I adhered to. I would go from one damaged man to another hoping to gain a lifelong commitment. Needless to say that didn't work. I sought out damaged men because I myself was damaged. But I'm so grateful that I've developed the strength to break away from that vicious cycle.

I was reminded of my past relationship blunders by an old journal I found tucked away recently. At the age of 24 I was sick & tired of heartbreak and had lost all faith in love. Yet, I was also amazingly self-aware and able to pinpoint the part I played in each failed union.

Father God, I thank you for granting me wisdom, discernment, and a strong sense of self awareness. If not for these gifts I would still be an unhappy mess who lets men determine my mood & worth.
Thank You!!!

Praise God I no longer frequent the Heartbreak Hotel :-)

Random Thought: Why I love NOT dating...

So my break from dating is going fabulously. It’s like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I’m no longer constantly analyzing the words or actions of some guy I’m getting to know, simply because it doesn’t matter. I’m no longer doing anything except enjoying a man’s company, conversation & personality. I love it!

Getting to know a man without the pressure of forming a romantic relationship provides a freedom I never thought imaginable. How many times has a fun relationship been ruined because a man wasn’t moving at our “love pace”? How many times has a fun relationship been ruined because we were scrutinizing him to see if he was the “one”? The ability to get to know a man without all the extra crap is a blessing. It lifts this cloud of expectation & provides a deeper understanding of who he is as an individual. In contrast, while dating, getting to know a man/woman is often overlooked when sexual attraction & interaction come into play.

I have my days where I'm tempted to return to my old pattern of dating (and the frustration it brings). I have days when I want to make out and do some heavy petting but I’ll pass ;-)
I am no longer interested in a temporary fix but require a permanent solution.
